My rule of thumb is before 12 months or after 5 years old. I DO NOT recommend piercings for ages 1-4 years old. Toddlers are notoriously the most difficult to pierce for many reasons. Toddlers love to touch and play with everything, including their new piercings which increases the risk of infection. Keep in mind your child must comply with aftercare for 6-8 weeks and needs to sit still during the piercing.

Tears are incredibly common and totally accepted here! Many kids are often nervous at first and I find it helpful to explain the process and expectations. Telling them "it wont hurt" or "you wont even feel it!" is not helpful and causes distrust. Keep in mind appointments are 30 mins long and if you feel like your child might need some extra time to get comfortable please message me prior to booking. I will never force a child to get pierced and want their experience to be a positive one. However: kicking, hitting or biting WILL NOT be tolerated. I do not pierce unless it can be done safely for both the child and piercer.

At the time of your appointment you will be given saline solution or spray to clean your piercing with + an aftercare instruction card. Do not clean your piercing with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, it will dry out and will not heal.

It typically takes about 1 year for a piercing to heal completely. After about 6 weeks of good aftercare you can change ear lobe piercings. You can change cartilage or inner ear piercings after 6 months.
